It was explained in class today.

Last
week I read Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girl. I had heard about the
book and read parts of it but this was the first time I read the whole book.
I enjoyed the book. I am reading it as an adult and I think that it
affects me differently than young children her age. I see it through the
mothers eyes.

I went
and got some of my favorite picture books and reread them. I like animal
books. I really like animal books with great illustrations. Some of
my favorite are The Story of the Little Mole Who went in Search of Whodunit,
Diary of a Wombat and Edward the Emu.

I have
read the book Amoung the Hidden. A very exciting book.
Uma
visited our class and provided some interesting information. Before the
class arrived she explained how she got her first book published and what she recommends
if you wish to become a published author. Her presentation did invite
thought of what we would believe if we read the same kind of books over and
over.

I
am reading Out of Dust. It is written in poetry form yet I think of it
more as a journal. It is an excellent book. It is about a 13 year
old who loves the piano but lives in the dust bowl. Dust is a large part
of her live. Unfortunately she burns her hands and her mother dies.

I
have never been a fantasy reader but I must admit that I like Eoin Colfer’s
books. I read another of his books called Supernaturalist. It is
about a boy who lives in and institute for the Parentally Challenged Boys (very
politically correct name). He actually escapes and joins with a group
called the Supernaturalists. The Supernaturalists have a special ability
to see supernatural parasites that feed on the life force of humans. The
Supernaturalists hunt the parasites in home of saving humanity in Satellite
City. Or are they?
I like Eoin Colfer. In fact if you want to find out more check out my author focus.

I have to admit that this was a very, very busy
week. I didn't get very much fun reading done. I did start My Brother Sam Is Dead. This is a story about a boy who has
a brother, Sam, who has joined with the agitators who are mocking the King. Tim must decide if his dad is right or his brother.

This week I checked out
a bunch of books from the Farmington library and read them They were mostly picture books but some were for young youth.
I am trying to read science fiction books and I realize why I never read them when I was young. They are not my type of reading.

I have
been really busy reading information for my other classes so I have not had the
time to read fun stuff. I
have to
do a lesson on baseball so I did read Lou Gehric The Luckiest Man. Another funny book is Don’t Step On The
Foul Line Sports Superstitions.
It’s amazing what people
will believe.

This week I got into some old favorites.
Barbara Robinson and the Best/worst books have some great humor. They tend to have a little reality thrown in. Hank the
Cowdog is a favorite from way back. I had to drive to Alb. so Hank kept me company on the trip. He is never without some
kind of mystery.
